The Heron-Images website is one in a series of wildlife image sites brought to you by two aspiring Canadian wildlife photographers, Bill Maynard and Michael Cummings. The genesis for our wildlife images websites was born from our desire to give back to both the photographic and conservation communities in what we believe is a simple formula. If we can help to coach up and coming wildlife photographers to better their craft and they in turn present the beauty of wildlife through their own wildlife photography to their followers that ultimately increases support for wildlife conservation. We call on all wildlife photographers to adopt a similar model, which when scaled out will go a long way towards protecting precious natural resources for future generations to enjoy.

Our Heron Images website has been one of our favourite projects to work on because of the numerous heron species that make Eastern Ontario their home or part of their migratory route. As a result we have many wildlife photographers looking for places to shoot and help with species identification. Michael in particular is the resident expert on species and is usually in the know on what species can be found where so please do drop him an email from time to time if you are in Eastern Ontario and looking for the inside scoop on heron photography.

We thank all of our supporters on the Wolvesonly.com site as it is their positive feedback that led us to the creation of numerous species specific websites:

Herein you will find helpful heron photography tips and we will also provide general information intended to help you learn more about a particular heron species. Most professional wildlife photographers agree that a working knowledge of a species habitat, behaviors, food sources, breeding cycles, etc. is the most important thing you can do towards improving your photography as it allows you to predict where and when the action will unfold before it happens.

Michael and I both hold a similar belief that through our heron images we have a tremendous opportunity to expose people to the beauty of herons and educate them on the various species with an end goal of having them one day support much needed conservation efforts.

In keeping with that goal Heron-Images.com will be donating a portion of the proceeds from all sales to organizations that support heron conservation efforts.
